Marie Makes a Baby Bag

I know that I put this baby bag on my "starter" blog, but since I only told 4 people about that blog, I figured  I'd put it up here too. Obviously this is another item for the upcoming baby. It is a bit small, so I am worried it may not fit. Fortunately I know quite a few folks having babies in the next year so, it can be passed on if baby t is too chunky :)

Marie Makes a Hat...over the course of a few years...

I know that posting two finished knits in two days make it look like I am a super speedy knitter, but this hat was knit over the course of a few years! The actual hat was knit while I was driving sister #2 to Washington (well, during the times that she was driving) and the flowers were made while we were still in DC. However, when we found out that baby t was a she, I felt like a brown and white hat needed some pink flowers so, voila!

Marie Makes Some Booties

When it's cold and snowy, my knitting craving increases dramatically. It seems like I can't stop thinking about things to knit! In an effort to satiate some of my craving, I knit these quick booties for baby t. I've used the pattern before and it is pretty quick and yields cute results. These may be a bit big for a newborn, but hey, she's going to grow right?!

Marie Makes It Through Three States in Two Days

This weekend was a whirlwind! Friday afternoon, we left for Sioux Falls. Saturday, I drove to Lincoln, NE to see sister #4.  Then back to Sioux Falls, where we immediately headed home arriving back at 2:00 AM. I am still in a bit of a daze, but it was a nice trip and it was really great to see the baby sister, if only for a few hours. 

I find something peaceful about interstate driving for long stretches, especially driving through wide open space. I am pretty sure that stems from growing up in a large, rural state where you have to drive for hours to get to the next city. Friday night, the blizzard had come through and left a dusting of snow on the ground, making the hills of Iowa especially pretty. I also find something nice about singing along to my i-pod alone in the car. However, this time, I wasn’t completely along as the baby was along too. Fortunately (or unfortunately) she got a good dose of her mother’s singing voice!

On the knitting end, I have been a bit of a knitting obsessive lately. I finished a pair of handwarmers last week that may be a Christmas present…we’ll see. I have also been working on, and scheming about several other projects. I think that the cold weather helps get me into knitting mood, although, it is definitely not a prerequisite.
